The Challenge

In 2019, Brookfield Properties, one of the world’s largest real estate managers, partnered with Architecture Firm, Lehman Smith McLeish (LSM), to expand their NYC headquarters with sit/stand workstations for their staff. Their goal was to find a manufacturing partner that could accommodate the design features envisioned by the design team while still providing a state-of-the-art, proven furniture system. The new floors of offices were expected to make a powerful brand statement to visiting Brookfield customers.

The Innovant Solution

Fresh off our NeoCon Gold award in the benching category and shortlist for best overall product of NeoCon 2019, Innovant confidently put forth CROSS, our latest introduction to our many sit/stand benching systems. CROSS offered an upscale aesthetic in its core engineering and was quickly accepted by the Brookfield team. Innovant’s design team worked closely with LSM and Evenson Best to incorporate the key features, materials, and profiles that would make this iteration of CROSS unique to Brookfield. Storage construction, pull details, paint colors, pre-formed felt privacy panels, and perforated steel and glass gallery panels were the most notable tailored aspects of the design.

The Result

Not only did Brookfield achieve a signature, high-performance design standard for their headquarters and Regional offices, they were also able to work with Innovant post-award to modify the furniture with enhancements to enable social distancing for the remainder of the pandemic.
